Older, historic properties often face a challenge of delivering reliable wireless Internet services. Obstacles (concrete construction, older wiring infrastructure, etc.) do not allow for a 'cookie cutter' solution.
Instead, a custom wireless network design with the optimum number and placement of access points is required. This story held true for the Carousel Resort Hotel, which has been an important part of the Ocean City community since Bobby Baker, a top aide of Lyndon Baines Johnson, built and opened the hotel in 1962.
When guests of the Carousel Resort Hotel began requesting Internet access services, the hotelier knew that it would not be a simple solution. The Carousel management team expected that their property would present several challenges and restrictions on running new cabling. A top goal is to preserve the property's aesthetics and to minimize any impacts of installing the new system, says Lindy Kosydar - Carousel's Director of Operations. And, of course, a cost effective solution was required.
After several months of securing competitive bids, the Carousel Resort Hotel selected ITG Networks for the challenging task. In March of 2008, ITG Networks installed a state of the art, visitor-based wireless network with coverage for all hotel guest rooms, conference areas, and atrium. Also, ITG provided a new Business Center solution.
Kosydar's evaluation: 'We were impressed with ITG's approach. Before providing us with their final proposal, they sent an Engineer on-site to walk the property and test with actual equipment. Their proposal was detailed and the installation went off without any surprises or hidden costs. We were relieved that the actual installation process took less than 1-week and guest rooms had no days when they were out of commission not generating revenue. We have had positive feedback from our 2008 season guests.'
